Women’s Title fight gets an upgrade

Women’s Title fight gets an upgrade

On September 24th in Auckland, New Zealand, The Tongan Goddess Nailini Helu will go against Ange Davis. Just announced today, this Main event will not only be for the Vacant Women’s NZPBA (New Zealand National) Heavyweight Title, but it will also be for the UBF Asia Pacific Heavyweight title.

This bout will be making history as both title’s has never had a Female Heavyweight Champion before. The UBF Asia Pacific title is relatively new with only one champion. The first Champion was crowned July this year, where the 21 year old, Mose Auimatagi Jnr defeated former WBO Oriental and WBA PABA Champion Gunnar Jackson.

The bout was in jeopardy last week where Ange Davis suffered an ankle injury, however after recent scans, the doctor are pretty confident that Davis will be medically cleared to fight. Davis is a well know Kickboxer in New Zealand, with the fight record of five wins, 4 loses and one draw. Davis is also a former TBANZ Super Middleweight Women’s kickboxing champion. This will be Davis first fight in over two years, making this a big challenge for the returning heavyweight.

Nailini Helu is a three time New Zealand Amateur Champion. She is currently 2 - 0 in her professional career and is ranked 9th on Boxrec and 9th on UBF. On her debut in April this year, Helu won the inaugural Royal Rampage World Title against Kirsty Lupeamanu. Helu is looking to win her first major title and to fight for a world title this time next year. Nailini is the older sister to up and coming Tongan Boxer, Panuve Helu, who just recently won a bout this month.
