NZ'S Favourite Wine Show Finds a New Home on TV3

NZ'S Favourite Wine Show Finds a New Home on TV3 From September 3!
/

THIRSTY WORK
SEASON FOUR
PREMIERES SATURDAY 3 SEPTEMBER, 3.55PM
8 X 30

Presented by local wine expert and writer Yvonne Lorkin, Thirsty Work is a unique show that unearths some of the great personalities behind New Zealand’s successful and innovative Wine and Craft Brewing Industry. The 8 episode series (which screens on TV3 Saturdays at 3.55pm from September 3rd) soaks up New Zealand’s vineyards, barrel halls, tank farms, cellar doors, breweries and bottle designers of the future, uncovering some of the best little wine and craft beer stories around.

As co-founder and Chief Tasting Officer for www.winefriend.co.nz, Yvonne recently had her tastebuds insured for $1m through Lloyds of London – so there’s no one more qualified to introduce you to the pioneers, the innovators and the hard-case characters who create those sensational sips that slake the thirst of the nation. Throughout the series viewers get to share the stories and passion of each producer whilst taking their taste buds on a tiki-tour around some of the country’s most jaw dropping locations. There’s also none of the pedantic puffery commonly associated with wine tasting because Thirsty Work is about real people. “I really wanted to create a show that encourages people to look beyond what’s in their glass and connect with what they’re drinking on a personal level” says Yvonne, “to reveal that there’s a person, a family and a fascinating story behind that bottle that you’ve just bought” Lorkin adds.

“The other key priority is I also really want viewers to come away feeling more confident about choosing and serving wine, matching it with food and absorbing some handy wine and beer tips that’ll help them sound flash in front of their friends” Yvonne says.

Flash is definitely how the show looks, due to it being researched and produced by Lorkin and directed by her long-time collaborator Carolyn Sylvester, one of New Zealand’s top lifestyle television visionaries. Sylvester captures the crisp and exotic nature of not only the drinks on show, but also the stunning locations and complex characters that create them.

Some producers featured during the series include: The Gimblett Gravels Winegrowers Association, Ma Maison, Epic Brewing, Toi Toi Wines, Loveblock Wines, Mud House, Emerson’s Brewing, Ash Ridge, Ant’s Wines, No.1 Family Estate, Hunter’s Wines, Methode Marlborough, Riversun Nursery, Birkenhead Brewing Co & SoHo Wines.
