Tigers of the Sea release second EP Cut and Run

31/08/2016 – Wellington garage/surf rock band Tigers of the Sea are excited to announce the launch of their second EP, Cut and Run.

Tracks like Dead Sea and That’s Where You’ll Find Me show a progression in the band’s sound, while Four Fades and Don’t Look My Way are vintage garage rock numbers that channel the Tigers’ high-energy live shows.

Creepy Dance taps into their love of spooky, dirty, rambling rock and roll and pays homage to one of their biggest influences – The Cramps.

From the Sky, a high-energy banger, finishes the EP with a blast of surfy rock and roll and sci-fi imagery.

As with their previous EP, the band enlisted Wellington pop artist Xoe Hall to create the cover art. Xoe’s stunning design for their debut release was so popular that the band asked her to do a sequel, carrying on the storyline of the series of EPs.

The album was recorded by James Goldsmith at Blue Barn Studios Recording Studio in Wellington. It was mixed by James Goldsmith and mastered by Simon Gooding.

The band has been treating audiences to their new songs at recent shows, including an opening slot for Kid Congo and The Pink Monkeybirds (formerly of the Cramps, The Gun Club and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) on 4 September and an Auckland release show on 24 September.

There is a limited run of only 150 vinyls available. The Tigers’ debut EP sold out in just a few months, and this record is likely to do the same.

The record has been released independently and will be available through the Tigers of the Sea Bandcamp page (https://tigersofthesea.bandcamp.com/), Deathray Records in Wellington and other independent record stores in New Zealand.
