The deliciously wacky and explosively funny tale from the world’s number one storyteller helps usher in the Christmas season! Introducing Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine, set to bring the house down with laughter at Bruce Mason Centre from 17 – 22 December.

George can’t stand his Grandma. She complains all the time, she’s mean and she smells funny. On one particular day, Grandma is much more annoying than usual and George has had enough. To cure her nastiness, George concocts a spell and it actually works… in more ways than one!

Following a sell-out season in Australia, this world-class, high energy, critically acclaimed production will see the classic tale brought to mischievous life on stage in Auckland for the very first time. Families and indeed everyone aged from 6 to 106 are invited to share in the festive excitement of this much cherished tale, full of unexpected surprises and uproarious laughter in this, the 100th year since the birth of the great Roald Dahl.

George’s Marvellous Medicine director, Ross Balbuziente, says Dahl’s original book was an absolute favourite of his as a child, and still remains a treasured favourite.

We are relishing this rare opportunity to adapt this much-loved book for stage, ensuring kids (of all ages) laugh harder than they have ever laughed before,” says Balbuziente.

After all, laughter is the best medicine!”

In this special season, the Christmas festivities will continue off-stage as the Bruce Mason Centre comes to life with a host of jolly holiday activities including market stalls and gift wrapping services, with the team at Auckland Live dedicated to delivering low cost and free family events to unlock the imaginations of the future.
