Pukeko Pictures are Go at Screenies

Pukeko Pictures are Go at Screenies – Sunday September 25

Internationally renowned production company Pukeko Pictures is coming to Screenies Children’s festival with “Thunderbirds Are Go” which was produced by ITV Studios and New Zealand based Pukeko Pictures, in collaboration with world-famous Weta Workshop (Avatar, King Kong, The Lord of the Rings).

Two episodes from season one Ring of Fire 1 & 2 will be screened in a special cinematic event at Screenies at TAPAC, Western Springs, Auckland onSunday 25 September.

Joining Screenies will be Ben Milsom Episodic Director and Production Designer from “Thunderbirds Are Go”. Over the last year, Ben has moved from production design into directing, and currently has his first episode of “Thunderbirds Are Go” in post-production.

Ben will be part of a special two-hour workshop created by The Open Fort and inspired by the “Thunderbirds Are Go” screening. Children will have the opportunity to join International Rescue by designing and making their very own character and Thunderbird vehicle out of recycled materials. They will then develop and film a story with their Thunderbird making a daring rescue. The videos will be shared online and judged by Ben Milsom.

Festival Director Janette Howe says “Ben’s involvement at Screenies is a fantastic opportunity for kids to get behind the scenes of an iconic show. I want children to be able to meet people who work in the industry and be inspired to go from being an audience for content to a content creator. “

“We are thrilled to support this year’s Screenies Children’s festival. It is a great opportunity for kids to get ‘hands-on’ in the media and film industry and through the two hour “Thunderbirds Are Go” workshop with Ben Milsom they will get to experience what goes on in making their favourite television series,” said Pukeko Pictures’ CEO, Clive Spink.

The double bill of Ring of Fire 1 & 2 will be a unique chance for fans to see the show on the big screen. When disaster strikes and there’s no one else to help, International Rescue answers the call! From their secret island base, this family of highly trained responders can reach every corner of the globe – and beyond – in minutes. With their remarkable cutting edge Thunderbird Vehicles, brothers Scott, Virgil, John, Gordon and Alan Tracy along with head of security Kayo and lead engineer Brains pull off amazing feats of heroism. No rescue is too big and no journey too far to save a life. When duty calls, Thunderbirds Are Go.

The workshop is limited to 30 participants and can be booked online at www.screenies.nz
