A Romantic Start to the Festive Season

In a not-to-be-missed pre-festive season show at BATS Theatre, Wellington vocalist Matthew Pike will present arrangements of much-loved songs from the late romantic era of the 19th century.

Musique Romantiquefeatures works by Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Faure, Strauss and others – but with a difference! Their songs have been re-imagined so that their timeless beauty and poignant qualities are afforded a new intimacy and energy.

Matt is a self confessed romantic, and no doubt his enjoyment in putting this show together will shine through in his performance. On stage he is backed by musicians Kate Marshall, Sam Smith-Nakamura, Blain Fitzpatrick and Jacob Randall.

Pike is experienced in working an audience. He has sung in musical theatre since the 1990’s throughout New Zealand, Australia, and Europe where he starred in lead roles in shows such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Miss Saigon, Evita and Cats. Back home in Wellington he fronts the Led Zeppelin experience ‘Whole Lotta Led” - such is his vocal versatility!

This is the ideal opener for the festive season for you and your much- loved other.

Musique Romantique plays for five nights only from Monday November 29th to Saturday December 2nd, starting at 6.30 p.m. at BATS Theatre, 1 Kent Terrace. The show is about an hour in duration so the night will be young for a relaxed dinner afterwards.

Tickets are available at bats.co.nz / book@bats.co.nz / 04 802 4175
