London, Paris, Milan, New York... Upper Hutt?

The fashion shows of London, Paris, Milan and New York come to Upper Hutt this summer, with a stunning exhibition direct from the Fashion and Textile Museum in London.

Catwalk to Cover: a Front Row Seat provides a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into the creative world of the fashion show.

Please find attached a media release and a couple of promotional images about Catwalk to Cover. This exhibition comes exclusively to Expressions Whirirnaki, Upper Hutt, New Zealand from The Fashion and Textile Museum; a cutting edge centre for contemporary fashion, textiles and jewellery in London, founded by iconic British designer Zandra Rhodes.

Through a series of over 100 candid photographs from top catwalk photographers and clothes by leading designers Catwalk to Cover reveals insights for us into the creativity and the chaos, at the heart of glamour. Highlights include moments from the artistic shows of Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, and Louis Vuitton; celebrity front row appearances from Scarlet Johansson and Sarah Jessica Parker and candid photographs of the world’s top models.

Today fashion designers are dependent on a wide spectrum of people to make the catwalk show a success. Fashion editors, creative directors, models, celebrities, journalists, camera crews, hair stylists and make-up artists all play a crucial role. Yet it is the catwalk photographers whose work determines what is available to the media to reproduce, and for us to see. The photographs for each of the sections of the exhibition are drawn from the portfolios of four photographers, Kristin Sinclair (British Elle, Elle Collections), Matthew Lever (Elle, Redken and L’Oreal amongst others), Philip Meech (Prada and Miu Miu) and Chris Moore (over 40 years shooting catwalk shows).

It will be shown 26 November 2016 to 12 February 2017. Entry is by donation. For more information visitwww.expressions.org.nz or if you would like to interview one of the artists please contact me on 027 7066703.
