Get along to the Awesome Arts Access Auction

Luxury getaways to Taupo, New Plymouth, Auckland and the Wairarapa; dinner dates in fine restaurants; a package including tickets to the Fly My Pretties String Theory concert; a quilt created by women prisoners; and fabulous art are just a few of more than 60 items up for grabs at the annual Awesome Arts Access Auction, to be held at the CQ Hotels Wellington on Thursday 1 December.

Richard Benge, Executive Director, Arts Access Aotearoa, says: “Everyone in New Zealand has the right to express themselvescreatively, and be included as audience members and visitors to galleries and museums,

“The auction is a great opportunity to have some fun and also support the work we do to increase access to the arts for everyone in Wellington and the rest of the country.

“Individuals, businesses and arts organisations in the Cuba Quarter, Wellington and beyond are always extremely generous and we’re grateful to everyone who donates items for us to auction.”

The live auction will have 14 items, ranging from weekend escape packages to cool, quirky art, a signed, framed Phoenix tee-shirt and a landscape consultation with leading landscape architect Mark Newdick.

Items in the silent auction include a gym membership; kete woven by prisoners; coffee table books donated by Te Papa Press; handwoven bags by Ethni-city; and tickets to live performance.
