Blackcaps back for Aces Super Smash double header

Media Release

Friday 16 December 2016

The Auckland Aces have a double header of McDonald’s Super Smash cricket this weekend starting with the Knights at Seddon Park, Hamilton on Saturday night.

The Aces welcome back three of their international players from BLACKCAPS duty for the fixture with Lockie Ferguson, Colin de Grandhomme and Colin Munro back in the mix.

Ferguson’s return means the Aces could be delivering 150km/h rockets from both ends as he joins forces with import Tymal Mills.

After making his BLACKCAPS debut, Ferguson is happy to be back home.

“It’s great to be back playing for the Aces this weekend. There is a really positive vibe in the camp and I’m excited to get out there and hopefully add to the success we’ve been having so far in the comp,” Ferguson says.

Aces coach Mark O’Donnelll is happy to have an almost full complement of resources at his disposal.

“Our guys always enjoy coming back into the Aces environment, it’s nice to have them back,” says O’Donnell.

But the coach knows it will be a tough weekend of cricket.

“It’s a hard weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday, difficult to get up the boys up for that second game especially if it’s been a close or exciting match the night before,” he says.

The Aces face the Knights on Saturday night in Hamilton, first ball 7:10pm
