Sing Your Lungs Out Motueka (SYLO)

Sing Your Lungs Out Motueka (SYLO)

A new free respiratory singing group is starting in Tasman in February. It’s a fun social group for people with chronic lung disease

Facilitator Pip Hiles has enthusiastically offered to help run this highly successful programme which was started by Dr Amanda McNaughton, a Respiratory Physician from the Capital and Coast DHB.

The Wellington group has won the supreme and community team of year awards in the 2016 Ministry of Health Volunteer awards.

Singing is used to help lung health and the SYLO members have found benefits like: less stress, improved breathing, lower blood pressure, improved mood and quality of life.

There is no need to be shy about your singing as singing with a group is very supportive and so beneficial to your health.

The sessions start 13th February at 10am at the Motueka Recreation Centre followed by morning tea. Contact sylomotueka@gmail.com or the Nelson Asthma Society on 03 0544 1562 for more information.
