Attention Seeker
That’s Enough Drama presents... a storytelling show called:
Attention Seeker
BY
GERARD HARRIS
Best Solo Show - Nelson
Fringe 2016
March 11 - 13 6:00pm Festival Club
Last year's winner of Best Comedy at the Dunedin Fringe (for A Tension To Detail), the acclaimed British storyteller Gerard Harris returns to the Festival Club this year with Attention Seeker, another regrettably true story that poses the following questions: What’s it like being an overnight success at the very thing you fear the most? How do you go from performing for 10 people to doing it for 1000 and then back to 10 again in just 6 months? And what if during the whole thing you’ve got something wrong with you but you don’t know it?
Attention Seeker is a speedy hour of
true stories and absurd one-liners about trying not to crash
when you’re stuck in 5th gear. An award-winning,
critically acclaimed and popular hit across North America,
Australia and New Zealand over the last two years, it looks
at the age-old conflicts of ambition vs fear, nature vs
nurture, chocolate vs poo, and comedians vs
comedians.
The true story of Gerard's start in comedy as the joke writer for a very famous-but-nameless comedian in the UK, it was only a matter of time before he decided to give standup a try and so, armed with only crippling stage fright, deep uncertainty in his abilities and a collection of jokes the famous comedian didn’t buy, he entered a national standup competition with no idea of what he was doing or how to do it, and the rest is history. Except history is normally supposed to be written by the winners.
“incredibly smart, funny and
possibly one of the best comedians at this
fringe”
-Edmonton Journal

Harris leaves you with much more than the story. He makes you look at things in a different way...” - Theatreview, Dunedin
