Partnership with China Cup announced

EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH CHINA CUP

Emirates Team New Zealand today announces a new partnership with the China Cup International regatta and its official partner Yiihua Technology & Pocket Tech.

The partnership will strengthen the cooperation in team sponsorship, personnel exchange visits, and youth sailing as well as exploring the collaboration with technology importation, yacht trading and industry investment.

The cooperation between Emirates Team New Zealand and China Cup International Regatta provides mutual benefit for both organisations in enhancing both the Emirates Team New Zealand brand associated with the China Cup, the first and largest big boat regatta in China held annually for the past 10 years, and increasing awareness of the World Sailing listed event within New Zealand.

“Part of what Emirates Team New Zealand is about is benefiting the marine industry and the sport of sailing as a whole,” explains Emirates Team New Zealand CEO Grant Dalton.

“China Cup is about attracting more people to sailing across the board from the youth, families and inshore and offshore sailing. So we are right behind the China Cup.”

China Cup has accomplished the mission to establish a platform for sailing culture and technique exchange in China. For future development, China Cup plans to include annual inshore racing, biennial offshore racing, and global sailing to be held every four years. In 2017, China Cup plans to organise monthly racing.

Meanwhile China Cup maintains friendly exchanges with international sailing, and keeps upgrading the event level. The cooperation with New Zealand proves to be rewarding, especially in youth sailing. Wider cooperative space has been explored, including this partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand for the 35th America's Cup.”

Since 2015, Emirates Team New Zealand has supported the China Cup entry of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron with crews selected by the yacht club comprising a mixture of up and coming youth programme sailors and former Emirates Team New Zealand sailors, which have been sponsored by Yiihua Technology and Pocket Tech and supported by Mr. Zhang Weiwen, CEO of Yiihua Technology, Mr. Deng Jin, CEO of Pocket Tech and Mr. Chen Lishuo, and Mr. Zheng Ruisheng, Co-Founders of Pocket Tech.

About China Cup:
China Cup International Regatta, the only regatta directly named after China, is the first international big boat regatta in China, with the largest One Design Class Beneteau First 40.7 in Asia Pacific. From 2007 to 2016, China Cup has been successfully held for 10 years, and consecutively earned the honour as “Asian Regatta of the Year” in 2008&2009. In 2010-2011, China Cup became the first regatta in China being listed on the ISAF event calendar. In 2015, China Cup won the special award of promoting sailing sports by International Sailing Federation. China Cup is held annually in each October, and attracted 138 teams from 38 nations and regions to race in the 10th China Cup.
