UK’s Harry Pane Releases New Single with a Close Connection to New Zealand - ‘Fletcher Bay’

UK singer-songwriter Harry Pane has released the first track ‘Fletcher Bay’ from his upcoming EP THE WILD WINDS, due April 7.

Named after the idyllic place at the end of the winding Coromandel Peninsula, ‘Fletcher Bay’ is a heart-warming tribute to Harry’s father who tragically passed away last year. The song ‘Changing’ from Pane’s last EP was written about his father’s battle with mental health and how he was improving but things took on a new meaning after his father’s sudden passing. Pane returned to Fletcher Bay at the end of 2016 to scatter the ashes of his late father.

That trip is the inspiration behind the song as he sings; “But I’ve returned to say, that I will leave and you will stay, your heart, your soul belongs at Fletcher Bay.”

THE WILD WINDS EP was recorded with Dani Castelar (Paolo Nutini, REM, Snow Patrol) in Valencia at the start of the year. It was funded by Island Records after Harry Pane was picked as the winner of #Roadtothe100Club, a competition organised by PRS for Music, with judges including PRS chairman Guy Fletcher O.B.E and Annie Christensen (A&R Island Records).

The EP tells an emotional journey of grief and finally acceptance. It is a love story with a difference and features artwork created using string, resembling the idea of how long is life. It follows the acclaimed EP CHANGING, which saw him championed by the likes of BBC Introducing London, BBC Northampton and John Kennedy at Radio X.
