Christian Cullen to Receive Kapiti Legend Sport Award

The Pak n Save Kapiti Sportsperson of the Year Awards organisers are pleased to announce the inaugural recipient of the “Tall Poppy Legend of Sport Award” is local sporting icon, Christian Cullen.

The Awards have been running for 11 years and aim to recognise Kapiti’s most talented sportspeople. New to the Awards for 2017, the Tall Poppy Legend of Sport category celebrates a sportsperson who has achieved amazing results in their sporting career and exemplifies sportsmanship in all of it’s facets. The process of selection was exhaustive and a shortlist of five qualifying athletes was selected by a panel who then reviewed their sporting careers against strict criteria.

When seeking a sponsor for the award, the organisers looked for a local business with a forward focussed attitude to partner with. They found that with Sam McIntyre and his team at Tall Poppy Real Estate who had previously sponsored the Award evening in 2016.

Tall Poppy Real Estate owner Sam McIntyre said Tall Poppy was delighted the Legend of Sport Award had been awarded to Christian Cullen.

“Tall poppies are defined by their commitment to serve and drive to succeed. Our company is all about celebrating our country’s tall poppies and Christian Cullen is obviously one of our best. He has always challenged the norm, striven for excellence and shown commitment to the Kapiti Coast. These are values we as a company strive for and we couldn’t be more proud to be sponsoring his award.”
