Mediaworks Announces Married at First Sight NZ

MediaWorks is pleased to announce that for the first time, it will be producing a local version of Married at First Sight. The winning format is the ultimate social experiment and has proven to be a smash hit globally, now being produced in over 25 countries.

The show will follow single New Zealanders looking for love who will be paired into couples in a ground-breaking experiment, as they meet for the first time at their wedding. They will then honeymoon, meet the in-laws and set up home, all while getting to know one another. Their matchmaking is the result of a carefully considered process involving a range of experts who will observe and counsel the couples as they progress through their time living together. At the end of the experiment, the couples must decide whether to remain married or file for divorce.

Andrew Szusterman, MediaWorks Chief Content Officer says, “We pride ourselves in bringing the best locally produced content to New Zealanders. Married at First Sight is the show that has been on everyone's lips for 2017 and we are really excited to be producing New Zealand’s first series of this hit show.”

Kiwis have been enthralled with the latest season of the Australian version of the show which has been Three’s highest rated international programme of 2017 - reaching a total audience of over one million people in the key 25-54 demographic and hitting over one million ThreeNow streams.

In conjunction with the announcement, MediaWorks has begun the ultimate casting call as they search for singles who are genuinely ready to commit to love. Applications are open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents aged 25+, from any background, ethnicity and sexual orientation.

Production will take place later this year, with the show airing between October - December 2017.
