Surviving Survivor NZ: Nicaragua a new Podcast

Surviving Survivor NZ: Nicaragua a new Podcast showcasing NZ comedians as they witness the quest for New Zealand’s first sole Survivor.

Auckland comedians Steven Lyons and Mike Kevan have decided to spice up Survivors Nz’s debut season with a weekly comedic recap in the form of a podcast. Each week they cover the twists and turns of TVNZ’s take on the reality show classic with the help of a guest comedian from the local comedy scene.

Surviving Survivor Nz: Nicaragua is a project of passion for the two hosts, and they are passionate about all the ups and down of the show, both in story and execution. The pair bring their listeners up to speed and hold the contestants to account.

Co-host Steven Lyons is fresh back from a 6 1/2 year stint of training and performing in Chicago where he worked with national American comedy institutions like The Second City and ComedySportz. Since his return Steven has shifted focus to perform more stand-up comedy and is making his mark hosting Shore Funny a monthly comedy show at The Vic Theater in Devonport and making it to the Raw Quest Grand Final 2017 during the Nz International Comedy Fest at the Q Theater. Mike Kevan is a recent immigrant from the UK, and started doing stand-up in London, before moving out to Auckland. Mike is regularly seen performing around the city and performed in the Raw Quest Semi-Finals 2017 earlier this year.

The podcast features guest comedians from the Auckland stand-up scene such as:
• Lana Walters, Brendan Kelly, Louise Beuvink, Scott Bennett, Hannah Campbell, Roland Mirabueno and Luke Callaghan.

Listeners are invited to join the hosts and a new guest each week as they dissect that week’s Survivor episodes. They dive in to find what they loved, loathed and laughed about as the survivors try to stay in the game amid crumbling alliances, melting chocolate, concussed crabs and more b-roll of South American wildlife than you can shake a lit torch at.

Surviving Survivor NZ can be found on all podcast services including itunes and stitcher.
