How to PARTICIPATE & CONTRIBUTE to the Hutt Winter Festival!

We are a month out and the festival office is buzzing with action!

We are thrilled to share with you some of the ways you can participate, contribute, and enjoy our first HUTT WINTER FESTIVAL 14-23 July!

Hutt Winter Festival FREE WORKSHOPS:


Bring some creative light to the darkest months with these one off workshops, led by skilled artists and teachers. Get together with others and get busy learning something new. Supported by Hutt City Libraries

We have several FREE workshops for you to participate in:

Beats and Rhythms for Families: Join Andreas Lepper for this hands-on workshop in percussion, musical counting, listening and non-verbal communication based on rhythms from around the world. All ages can join in to explore and play with a large variety of percussion instruments.

SAT 15 JULY, 3-4.30pm at Wainuiomata Library, Queen St, Wainuiomata

A Wonder of Light and Motion: This is a chance to get hands on! Come and help the artists build their floats and experience what is possible when you combine an unwavering love of bikes and art with some real kiwi ingenuity.

SUN 16 JULY, 2-4pm at Common Unity Project HQ, 310 Waiwhetu Rd, Epuni

Colour and Light: Make your own colourful tea light with Creative Voice as part of the Taita Library School Holiday Programme. Participants will cut and shape old plastic bottles and then spray them in bold bright colours. Sponsored by the Learning Connexion, this fun hands on workshop will give you the skills to upcycle plastic into colourful lights.

Poi Workshop: Proudly presented by the Maori Womens Welfare League come make your own poi and then learn how to swing it! Suitable for all ages, families welcome.

Fresh Angles: Writing for Performance: Mitch Tawhi-Thomas leads this writing workshop focused on character, story-mapping and structure for script and screen. Participants are also welcome to bring anything they are currently working on.
FRI 21 JULY, 10.30-12pm at War Memorial Library, 2 Queens Dr, Lower Hutt

CONTRIBUTE ART!

We are looking for works to put on the big screen at the Festival Hub, so if you or someone you know has a video or animated artworks that we could display then please get in touch: info@huttwinterfestival.co.nz

The Hutt Winter Festival Hub will be open at Central City Plaza, 49 Queens Parade, Lower Hutt, 12-6pm every afternoon of the festival!

DONATE WOOL!

The festival's poi-making workshop run by the Rimutaka Maori Women's Welfare League needs medium weight wool. If you have some, please LET US KNOW: info@huttwinterfestival.co.nz
