69-year old Striptease Star to Headline at NZ Festival

69-year old Striptease Star to Headline at the New Zealand Burlesque Festival

By Red Rascal Productions
30 June 2017

Auckland, NZ - 1970’s Burlesque Legend, Judith Stein (age 69), will be the headliner for the 2017 New Zealand Burlesque Festival (NZBF) 24 to 27 August, proving to audiences that striptease and sexiness is not just for the young. Judith will be joined by other burlesque performers from around the country and internationally, to celebrate burlesque in this four-day event. It’s the first time a Legend of Burlesque has performed at NZBF, with shows that include a clash an international battle for the King & Queen of NZ Burlesque titles, a glitzy glamour night with Spectacular Tease and the the NZ premiere of the documentary film “League of Exotique Dancers” telling the story of the golden age of burlesque, in which Judith Stein is heavily featured.

Hailing for British Columbia, Canada, Judith’s burlesque started 1973, after answering an ad for “topless go-go girls… no experience need” so that she could pursue a university education. Over 17 years she joined in the fun of burlesque with “international travel, exotic locations and quite a few honky tonks”. Having been “rediscovered” by the neo-burlesque movement in 2006, she has not looked back and has said that coming to New Zealand is “a dream come true”.

Judith will be appearing at all three nights of events being held at The Vic Theater in Devonport. She will be performing Friday 25th August and Saturday 26th August as well as discussing her experience in burlesque as part of the NZBF’s workshops.
