5 Bands Help Send The Rodger Fox Big Band to Monterey

5 Wellington Bands in a fundraiser to get the Rodger Fox Big Band out of town... to the Monterey Jazz Festival!

All the bands appearing have members from the Rodger Fox Big Band within their ranks and many were students at the New Zealand School of Music where Rodger teaches.

This is a celebration of music, in a showcase of talent across genres. Swing, N'Orleans Rhythm, Funky Blues, Ska and Latin! A veritable cluster of goodness!

3.00 SHAKEN NOT STIRRED

Shaken not Stirred feature the horn section of Andre Paris and Damian Forlong, the vocals and bass playing of Geoff Hern with Deane Hunter on guitar and Miss Olivia Campion on drums. Featuring a large range of popular dance classics and modern pop tunes the repertoire caters to a diverse age range. Shaken not Stirred have the ability to transform the vibe of any celebration, making it a fun filled evening and the highlight of any event.

5.00 JULIE LAMB BAND

The Julie Lamb Band is a 10 piece with a huge range and immense love of music. They draw influence from all the greats providing the ultimate contemporary mix of funky blues rock, reflected in their award winning original songs.

The band features some of Wellington’s most prolific musicians, they have made a name for themselves in New Zealand’s capital city over the last 7 years. A hero band for all the music lovers out there.

Mixing classic hits with their own funky originals gives the audience the comfort of familiarity - fans can’t help but dance the night away - perfect for a festival vibe.

6.00 BATTLE-SKA GALACTICA

This band has fast become New Zealand’s premier Ska band. With an infectious mix of Reggae, Jazz, Rock and of course Jamaican and 2 Tone Ska, the band has taken the NZ music scene by storm.

Comprised of some of Wellington’s finest musicians, they have been working overtime, skankin' it on dance floors up and down the country, reestablishing the popularity of Ska music in New Zealand with vengeance, one rude boy and girl at a time. With the band's live shows promising high energy performances and a truly original sound, they are one act not to be missed.

7.00 JIMMY & THE JETS

Starting out on the streets of Wellington, Jimmy and the Jets' sweet sounds can be heard most weekends. A group of friends with a background in jazz and a taste for all the classic hits, you can expect to hear tunes from artists such as Marvin Gaye to Alicia Keys to Cee Lo Green. Tight horns, good vibes, fun times!
