The Menagerie Deluxe Variety Show Comes to the Opera House

The Menagerie Deluxe Variety Show, Comes to the Wellington Opera House on The 2nd of September 2017

The Menagerie Deluxe promises a unique experience

At a time when most entertainment seems the same and people consume it through a screen, The Menagerie Deluxe brings 16 unique, live acts to the Opera House on Saturday 2 September 2017. This never-to-be-repeated show is variety entertainment at its finest.

The Menagerie Deluxe showcases Wellington, national and international performers across genres - music, dance, circus, comedy, drag, burlesque, poetry, kapa haka and much, much more. Produced by Rachel Rouge, The Menagerie Deluxe promises something for everyone - and some surprises as well.

“I’ve always loved showing audiences a performance or performer they wouldn’t normally see,“ says Rouge. “It’s great to go to a variety show and see the types of acts you enjoy, as well as seeing something different, something that you’re talking about afterward, that’s the kind of show The Menagerie Deluxe is. It resonates.”

These are the unique and talented performers in the show:
Clever and Victor - Punny Curmudgeons
Harlow Lestrange - Hoop Witch
Kade and Jeremy - Comedy Magic
Fanciforia Foxglove - Burlesque Performer
Laura Loach - Opera Singer
Alien Junk Monsters - Extra-Terrestrial Percussion
Hannah Tasker-Poland - Dance Artist
Venus Starr - Circus Powerhouse
Jacquie Fee - Songstress
David Correos – Stand-up Comedian
GAG - Drag Family
Justine Smith - Host
Hadassah Grace - Poet
Skye Broberg - Box Contortion
Ngāi Tauira - Te Kapa Haka o Ngāi Tauira
Nick Tasman Davies - Aerial Straps
Venus Starr’s School of Burlesque Students - Burlesque

Rouge believes The Menagerie Deluxe brings back the delights of the golden age of music hall and vaudeville entertainments. “It used to be commonplace to go to the theatre and watching a big show full of all sorts of creative entertainers. Variety shows are a rarity, I wanted to bring them back to Wellington with high-calibre performers in a theatre deserving of such a night. It’ll be night you won’t forget.”

The Menagerie Deluxe happens at the Opera House in Wellington on 2 September 2017, at 8pm. Tickets range from $50.00 to $67.00 plus booking fees, available online at http://premier.ticketek.co.nz/shows/show.aspx?sh=MENAGERI17.
