Stanaway Confident Experience Will Lead to Supercar Success

Richie Stanaway confident international experience will lead to success in Supercars

Richie Stanaway is turning his focus to carving out a career in Supercars, making his maiden solo start in the sports feeder Super2 Series this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The 25-year-old New Zealander is set to race in the Super2 event, as well as partnering Monster Energy’s Cameron Waters in the #6 Ford for the Supercars' Endurance races at Sandown, Bathurst and Gold Coast later this year.

Stanaway has fantastic international pedigree, he has won races overseas within both GP2 and GP3, feeder categories to the Formula One, and he recently wrapped up a successful factory drive for Aston Martin in the World Endurance Championship.

Stanaway's achievements overseas are unparalleled to most of his counterparts in the Super2 and Supercars Championships, but to be successful in these unique race cars he needs miles, and to gain as much experience as quickly as possible.

Prodrive Team Principal Tim Edwards says after such an impressive debut as a co-driver at last year’s Sandown 500, Stanaway has the ability to perform well in the coming rounds of the Enduro Cup.

Stanaway will pilot the #6 PRA Super2 Ford in Sydney, with practice kicking off at 10am local time on Friday.
