Kiwis get entry into doubles main draw


The ASB Classic doubles wildcards have been given to kiwi players. Paige Hourigan and Erin Routliffe will pair up again while New Zealand’s top player Jade Lewis will play with Shu-Ying Hsieh.

Hourigan and Routliffe both lost their first round qualifying matches yesterday but get another opportunity to compete with the world’s best tennis players together. The kiwi pair will face Arantxa Rus (NED) and Silvia Soler-Epinosa (ESP).

Lewis will play for the first time with Hsieh and will be the underdogs as they take on 2nd seeds Nao Hibino (JPN) and Darija Jurak (CRO) in the first round.
