Shaggy’s out, Katchafire and Spawnbreezie are in
Excitement is building ahead of New Zealand’s One Love Festival this weekend, with the famed two-day reggae extravaganza opening its gates to tens of thousands of music lovers from across the globe.
This year One Love is taking place across Auckland Anniversary weekend - Saturday, January 27 and Sunday, January 28 - returning again to Tauranga Domain. It boasts a line-up of some of the biggest names in music, from Spawnbreezie, to headliners Common Kings, Magic! and Fiji; and local legends such as Kora, House of Shem, Sons of Zion and Stan Walker.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Shaggy will no longer be performing. Promoter Pato Entertainment says the last minute news is disappointing but the One Love team has worked hard to find a suitable replacement, with the much-loved Katchafire now confirmed as closing out the Sunday night. Shaggy has apologised to fans and has promised to be in New Zealand in the near future, with all One Love ticketholders guaranteed a discount to the show.
Katchafire are excited to return to One Love and will be playing a mix of new music, and old favourites.
With tickets close to selling out, One Love is expected to draw a massive crowd of around 20,000 people this year, with reggae fans coming from around the world for the two-day festival, which has earned a reputation as of one of Australasia’s biggest and most popular events.
Set right in the heart of Tauranga and only just minutes to some of the country’s best beaches, there are still a limited number of tickets available, but people are urged to get in quickly to avoid disappointment.
