exhibition: 31 january - 24 february 2018

Melanie Roger Gallery presents a new solo exhibition of work to celebrate TIFFANY SINGH being a 2017 recipient of the New Generation Award from the NZ Arts Foundation. This solo exhibition of work comes just prior to the unveiling of a major new project at Te Papa Tongarewa Museumof New Zealand by Tiffany Singh as well her departure for a three month Asia NZ Foundation residency at the Taipai Artist Village in Taiwan.

"Collaboration Is The Future" positions the values and ethics of social practice as collectable artworks that focus on the collaborative process. A series of reciprocal exchange relations establish artworks that transfer the focus of ritual, to collections of abundance. Materials and installations that speak to the rising conversation about feminism at this time. The act of all the individual collaborations culminating for "Collaboration Is The Future" is significant, as the complete suite of works appears as an archival collection of time and place for the artist who views the collaborations as part of the artwork.

Tiffany Singh is a Social Practice artist, specialising in socially engaged art outcomes. Born in New Zealand of Indian & Pacific decent. Her practice explores the relationship between engagement in arts, culture & subjective well-being. Tiffany has worked on sustainable community outreach, exploring engagement in the arts that are focused on expanding research within the social sciences. Her interest in cultural preservation combined with strong social discourse has seen her use the arts as a vehicle for education, outreach & empowerment.
