Darren Coggan presents PEACE TRAIN - A tribute to Cat Stevens

Join multiple award-winning musician Darren Coggan, as he honours one of the most inspiring and prolific singer songwriters of our time, Cat Stevens, in Peace Train: A tribute to Cat Stevens, touring to Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland in August and September 2018.

After performing in 2015 at the Auckland Town Hall Peace Train returns due to popular demand, taking audiences on a journey back in time, recreating the sights and sounds, seeking out the man in the music and illuminating the story behind the songs. Even Cat Steven’s own nephew has seen the show and given it the tick of approval.

“Coggan sounds amazingly like Stevens. He has the timbre, the inflections and the feel of Cat’s music. The combination of Coggan’s affable persona, the intriguing story and the amazing catalogue of songs adds up to a winner.”
- The Daily Telegraph

Talented, charismatic, with a seemingly endless succession of beautiful melodies streaming from his imagination, Cat Stevens was an international singing sensation. Bursting onto the scene in 1967, he sold more than 60 million albums, earned enough money to last several lifetimes, and garnered a string of awards.

Star of Peace Train, Darren Coggan, is a musician, singer and TV presenter who created this show in 2008, wanting audiences to experience some of Stevens’ biggest hits live, and to discover the stories behind the music. Across Australia, including performances at the Sydney Opera House, Coggan has performed his acclaimed repertoire with remarkable authenticity. A self-proclaimed aficionado of Cat Stevens, Coggan has even met the man himself.

“I had the privilege of being invited to London to meet with the great Cat Stevens in 2007. I heard first hand some of the many anecdotes and stories that we share with the audience throughout the performance. We take our audience on that same journey of self-discovery, and seek to answer the question; why did he leave the music industry?” – Darren Coggan.

Coggan has toured extensively with other stage shows including Grease – The Mega Musical, Happy Days – The Arena Mega Musical, and Shout – The Musical Of The Wild One. His TV appearances include performing on Channel 7's All Saints, and he is the winner of two ‘Golden Guitar awards’ at the CMAA Country Music Awards (2001 and 2008). Currently Coggan is a presenter on Australian travel show, Sydney Weekender.

“Stevens’ timeless songs including Moonshadow, Wild World, Peace Train, Where Do the Children Play, Father & Son, Morning Has Broken and many more, continue to unite the world, bringing people together with his message of peace, tolerance and understanding.” -Darren Coggan

“Darren Coggan seamlessly weaves the Cat Stevens story in song and speech in what ends with a standing ovation.” - Sunday Herald Sun

“Coggan has found a quality of voice which is so close to the original that you would think it is Cat Stevens himself. The commitment from the writer is not just to the music, but to the message. The result is an exciting concert and a dramatic narrative with a worthwhile theme.” - Canberra Times
