WBOP Magic and Hobbiton Unveil Special Match Dress

WBOP Magic and Hobbiton™ Movie Set Unveil Special Match Dress

Media Release
Tuesday 22 May

After months of design work and fast-tracked production, Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and HobbitonTMMovie Set are able to unveil a special, Hobbiton themed, one-off game dress. The dress will be worn by the WBOP Magic in the ANZ Premiership match versus SKYCITY Mystics on Wednesday 27 June at Claudelands Arena, Hamilton, as part of HobbitonTM Movie Set’s match day sponsorship and promotional partnership with the WBOP Magic team.

In addition to this special game dress, Hobbiton Movie Set’s match day sponsorship will see a wide range of pre-game, in-game and post-game activities, including dressing of the Arena in a Middle-earth theme and the chance to win passes to Hobbiton Movie Set for supporters.

WBOP Magic Captain, Casey Kopua, said;

“We’re really excited to pull on the Hobbiton Movie Set dress for our match against the Mystics. We’re proud to represent a region that includes such an iconic tourist attraction, and we love having them on board as one of our family of partners. Our rivalry with the Mystics is always strong and we’ve had some great matches against them. Now with a little something more on the line I’m sure it’s going to provide some great entertainment”.

Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty Chief Executive, Rohan West, commented;

“It’s fantastic to finally launch the Magic Hobbiton Movie Set dress. There were nearly half-a-dozen design variations to get all the aspects just right. The team at our apparel supplier, BLK, have been terrific with their design expertise and responsiveness. They got the dresses produced and delivered to us in half the normal timeframe. A huge thanks to BLK. With the release of the dress, our supporters will now see the first tangible example of why 27 June will be a special night. The players absolutely love the dresses and can’t wait to step on court in them. We think this is first in the ANZ Premiership and the team is excited to be part of history.”

Hobbiton Movie Set CEO, Russell Alexander, added;

“The special one–off Hobbiton match dress looks fantastic with the Shire map silhouette print. It was great to have the team out here at Hobbiton Movie Set for a photoshoot to show it off. We are extremely excited to be working with the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic netball team this year and look forward to bringing a slice of real Middle-earth movie magic to the match on 27 June.”
