Wellington's Premiere Drag King Show Is Back!

After a sold-out Pride Festival show The Little Boys' Room, a raucous and camp drag king cabaret, has returned to The Fringe Bar with an all-new line-up of talented hairy little dragsters.

Welcome to The Little Boys’ Room! Should you feel the need to use the facilities, please direct yourself to The Fringe Bar this July and November 2018 for a drag king spectacular that’s sure to bring you some sweet relief. Come on in, lock the door and prepare for your favourite faux show boys - unzipped and exposed like never before.

This camp and cocky cabaret features some of New Zealand’s finest and award-winning gender illusionists.

They may only be mostly male, but they can shake their fake things with the best of them. They’ve put on their big boy pants, erected their phallic props and preened their facial hair - primed and ready to descend on Wellington in a veritable hailstorm of duct tape, glitter and suspiciously sweaty tube socks. The July edition will be MCd by everyone's favourite aunty, the one and only Pamela Hancock. An ordinary lady with a heart of gold, a true Wellington Drag original. It will also feature the city's recent Mx Capital Drag 2nd place winner and Mx Congeniality Willy SmacknTush, who was recently featured on Newshub as part of a wider Rainbow Community piece.

Drag Kings have been enjoying a recent surge of popularity and visibility, with shows like the Little Boys Room being instrumental in showcasing emerging talent and fostering a nurturing community for Kings. Produced by Hugo Grrrl, the alter-ego of comedy and cabaret producer George Fowler who also produces a wide variety of other productions in Wellington and beyond including The Rocky Horror Drag Show and The Pun Battle. Grrrl is also reigning national drag king champion (‘Yes, there is such a thing!’ laughs Fowler) and was recently awarded Best Producer in The Wellington Comedy Awards 2017.

The Little Boys' Room: A Drag King Cabaret is on for one night only at The Fringe Bar on Saturday July 7th, 8pm. It will also be returning to Fringe Bar on November 17th for another deliciously humpy good time.
