The Soul Explorers are heading to New Zealand - for immediate release

Husband and wife Sergio and Claudia Lordao have been together for almost 30 years. Six months ago they decided to quit their jobs in Australia to travel the world sharing stories about regular people they come across in their travels.

While Claudia loves to write, Sergio is passionate about photography.
They both worked in managerial Marketing roles in Australia and overseas and never had time - or courage - to allow their creative side to come to life.
After their son left home to study in Brisbane, they felt it was time to allow themselves to dream again. For two years they saved enough money to start an initiative that has no financial rewards, at least not yet. However, they feel like this is the most challenging job they have ever had in their lives.

"We believe each person has a different story, a different look, a different approach to life. We want to explore this diversity and learn about all the things that bring us together. It's been six months since we've been sharing a story every single day. What we are doing is totally out of our comfort zone. It's not easy to approach people on the streets and make them talk about their lives with a stranger! It takes a dose of courage, a lot of determination and, of course, resilience. But we feel we are getting stronger and more prepared to do what we are doing as we go. We knew it would be like that - we are learning with the process - and there is no better way to learn something."

"Photography has never been more relevant. In a world of selfies and meaningless imagery, there is an ever-growing number of people interested in what goes beyond the surface. My goal is to illustrate the stories with my images, conveying the emotions unfolded in my interactions with each person I photograph."

Claudia and Sergio have covered five countries, over 30 cities and have interviewed almost 200 people so far. And they are not stopping any time soon. They are arriving in New Zealand on July 26 and they hope to come across a lot of inspiring people.

"This will be our third time in New Zealand. We love this country! We will travel around South Island for two weeks and we want to interview locals and tourists. We look forward to experiencing the island again. It will be special to return to the places we loved to visit before, but now as Soul Explorers. We look forward to starting this leg of the project."

It's not the first time that Claudia and Sergio start over. In 2007, at the age of 37 and with a 9-year-old son, they left everything behind in Brazil - an established career, family, friends, comfort - and embarked on a delightful adventure that changed their lives forever.

"Migrating to Australia took a lot of courage. It's never easy to move to another country, but we have been enjoying every single moment of this journey. The past 11 years were about self-discovery. We've learnt so much about ourselves!"

In October, the couple is heading to South America, to visit Chile, Argentina and Peru. Soon, they will start to work on their first book, and by mid-2019, they expect to hold Photo Exhibitions in Australia and overseas. "By then, there will be over 500 stories to choose from. It will be a difficult task because all stories are special to us, but we look forward to it."
