Two Point Goals to Feature at 2018 Super Club Competition

Friday 27 July

Netball New Zealand’s Super Club tournament will see the introduction of a two goal scoring zone when teams take to the court in Nelson next month.

Eight teams, including New Zealand’s top three ANZ Premiership finishers, alongside five international club sides will battle it out from 19-24 August at the Trafalgar Centre.

At Super Club teams on attack will have the choice whether to shoot for one goal or take a risk to land double the reward from a marked two goal zone within the circle.

Netball New Zealand Head of Events and International Kate Agnew said the new rule would make the Super Club competition more exciting for teams and the fans.

“The two goal scoring zone is a great innovation for Super Club and will add some extra excitement to the atmosphere.”

Details on the teams lining up for a shot at this year’s title, along with the full competition draw will be announced next week.

The competition sees 20 games played over six days, culminating in the Grand Final on 24 August, with all games broadcast live on SKY Sport.

The inaugural Super Club competition was won by the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel who beat the SKYCITY Mystics in the Grand Final.

There are a range of tickets on offer including Adult ($25), Child ($15) and Family passes ($71), while three-day passes can also be purchased now from Ticketek
