David Byrne Announces Special Guest Kimbra

DAVID BYRNE
ANNOUNCES SPECIAL GUEST KIMBRA ONAMERICAN UTOPIA NEW ZEALAND TOUR - NOVEMBER 2018

‘The American Utopia tour may just be the best live show of all time.’
NME

Frontier Touring is pleased to announce that two-time GRAMMY® award-winning songstress Kimbra will be joining Talking Heads bandleader David Byrne as special guest on the upcoming New Zealand leg of his acclaimed American Utopia World Tour this November.

Kimbra recently released her highly praised third studio album, Primal Heart, available now on Warner Bros. Records. The 12-track record won early praise from the likes of Interview Magazine, PAPER, and NYLON, with Rolling Stone (USA) calling it one of the 'most anticipated albums of 2018':

‘Kimbra: confident, self-actualised star and feminist pop warrior.’ – Interview

‘Primal Heart is a sonically astounding pop masterpiece.’ – MXDWN

‘An impassioned narrative, wrapped in sharp, purposeful production.’ – Paper Mag

With a brand new collaboration with rapper Snoop Dogg in the red hot ‘Top Of The World’, Kimbra recently wrapped up an extensive North American tour, alongside the likes of Beck and ODESZA.

Kimbra’s voice seeped into the hearts of listeners around the globe in 2012. She dueted with Gotye on the inescapable quadruple-platinum smash ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’, and confidently stepped into the spotlight with her debut album Vows, yielding hits ‘Settle Down’ and ‘Cameo Lover’, followed by her critically acclaimed 2014 full-length The Golden Echo. In 2019 will make her motion picture debut as one of the main characters in the upcoming film Daffodils.

Meanwhile, acclaim for David Byrne’s stunning live performances – the Annie-B Parson choreographed concert he’s called “the most ambitious show I’ve done since the shows that were filmed for Stop Making Sense” – has left recent UK reviewers gobsmacked:

‘Daringly ambitious and full of joy. So different, so memorable, so much fun.’ – The Evening Standard

‘A disarming performance that makes perfect sense. An entrancing show of extraordinary music. The show is incredibly ambitious.’ – The Guardian

‘The American Utopia tour is one of the most mind-blowingly meticulous and awe-inspiring productions you could ever hope to see. It might have taken more than 30 years, but Byrne has somehow made Stop Making Sense look ordinary. Perfection.’ – The Independent

‘Byrne and his 11-piece band put on an unforgettably unique, imaginative, and kaleidoscopically entrancing spectacle of music, dance, and theatre. Even for an icon like Byrne, this was something special.’
The Daily Telegraph

With Byrne’s Wellington show already sold out and the Auckland and Christchurch shows set to follow suit VERY soon, don’t delay – grab your tickets to catch Kimbra supporting David Byrne live in concert this November!
