Kiwi Music Theatre Pros Unleash

New Zealand Music Theatre Company's newest performance initiative Music Theatre Unleashed, is a high-quality, 60 - 90 minute music theatre showcase that will take place every three months, with our inaugural event this December.

In a climate where professional music theatre work is scarce, New Zealand Music Theatre Company prides itself on providing paid opportunities for our local music theatre performers and with Music Theatre Unleashed, will give 24(approx) professional artists throughout the year the opportunity to perform solo, duet and group numbers in a paid professional environment, whilst showcasing the latest music theatre repertoire.

Our stellar, inaugural cast consists of Rebekah Head (Bachelor of Performing Arts, NASDA, NZ), Sally Brady (Bachelor of Performing Arts, NASDA, NZ), Emma Carr (Diploma Performing Arts, UK), Greg Jarema (Tisch School of the Arts, New York), and Verity Craft.

Music Theatre Unleashed places a strong focus on the storyline and narrative both in the selection of material and artists. Music material is curated by the Music Theatre Unleashed Curator and Director, Ryan Jacobs (BFA in Music Theatre - New World School of Performing Arts in Miami, FL), in conjunction with the Music Director, Josh Clark (City of 100 Lovers – Sky City). Selected songs are from the contemporary music theatre genre (post-2000) as a way of introducing New Zealand audiences to the new age of music theatre.

Set in one of Auckland's newest live music performance Venues, Anthology Lounge on Karangahape Road offers an intimate cabaret performance experience, state of the art sound equipment, a white grand piano, and the sophisticated styling and vibe of a New York cabaret performance venue, right here in the heart of Auckland City. The venue setting, combined with our lineup of artists will provide a cabaret showcase experience unlike any other.

Music Theatre Unleashed will be the new staple in Auckland’s performing arts scene, becoming a meeting place for professional artists, industry and audiences, as well as showcasing talent, exploring new music theatre material, meeting new people, network, create new working relationships, and for audiences to enjoy top quality entertainment.
