New Zealand Secondary Schools Coaches Announced

15 January, 2019

Coaches of the 2019 New Zealand Secondary Schools team have been announced as Charissa Barham (Central Zone) and Paula Smith (Northern Zone).

Barnham, who has been assistant coach for the last two years, steps into the head coach role this year while former MAGS coach Smith comes in as assistant.

Netball New Zealand National Player Development Manager Elissa Phillips was pleased to confirm the coaching team.

“Both Charissa and Paula have a strong history of success in working with young talent and we are excited about seeing them step up to the next level,” she said.

“We are confident this new look coaching combination will bring a new energy to New Zealand Secondary School space.”

The duo get straight to work as contributors at the 2019 National Development Camp in Cambridge from 18-21 January ahead of game play later in the year.

The National Development Camp will see 50 athletes from around the country take part, with selections based on performances at National Age Group Championships, Regional Secondary Schools and NZSS Championships and in conjunction with Zone led talent identification programmes.
