“Hilarious”

Billboard

The point is, a Ninja Sex Party show is awesome. In real life, Danny Sexbang and Ninja Brian are Dan Avidan and Brian Wecht, both known for the wildly popular (4.5 million subscribers) YouTube gaming channelGame Grumps, which Dan co-hosts with Arin Hanson. They formed Ninja Sex Party in New York in 2009, where they met on the improv circuit. Brian was playing for musical improv groups, turning audience suggestions into spontaneous songs, and Danny was a struggling musician reinventing himself as a struggling comedian — until he realized that combining his two passions would be less of a struggle.

“…practically begs for viral fame”

The AV Club

Their first album, NSFW, came out in 2011 and featured the fan favorites Dinosaur Laser Fight and The Decision, both bolstered by YouTube videos that established their offbeat style of comedy and answered the burning question, “Who invented space?” (Answer: Albert Einstein. Brian has a degree in theoretical physics, so it must be true.)

Their latest standout track “Danny Don’t You Know” off their new album Cool Patrol is a hilarious but heartfelt pep talk Danny Sexbang delivers to his awkward, nerdy younger self — played in the video by Stranger Things star (and longtime NSP fan) Finn Wolfhard — promising him that things will get better as he gets older and learns to unleash his inner “spandex butterfly.”

“Ninja Sex Party instruct all the nerds of the world to rock on… and it’s the message we all need in 2018”

LOUDER

Maybe that running theme of celebrating the nerds, geeks and outsiders that runs through all of Ninja Sex Party’s music explains the devotion of their massive fan base — over 1 million YouTube subscribers and 641,000 Twitter followers strong. “We did not anticipate how emotionally invested the fans would become”, Danny says. “It gives us the sense of, ‘Oh, good, we’re doing something that matters.’ It’s not just stupid. It’s stupid and meaningful.’”
