Auckland, New Zealand: With a record 866 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, the legendary Spurs captain Steve Perryman is on his way to NZ. Tottenham’s current side are regarded as one of the best teams in Europe, yet the Steve Perryman’s Spurs achieved global fame lifting the UEFA Cup in 1972 and 1984, and two FA Cups in 1981 and 1982.

Perryman, who captained the club for much of his career is now embarking on a tour of New Zealand (and Los Angeles) to tell his story of how a boy from Ealing led one of Europe’s most famous clubs to glory, and became one of the most celebrated players in their history.

Perryman is ecstatic to be embarking on the trip, and will be returning to NZ for the first time since he led Spurs on a tour of the Antipodes back in 1976. Spurs faced a local FA XI in Auckland on May 3 that year, with the game finishing 5-3 in favour of the Londoners. In Wellington two days later, Spurs met a representative XI of the New Zealand capital, with Tottenham edging the match 3-2.

Don McAllister, another ex Spur who played on that tour will be joining Steve on the trip and Perryman will be re-united with All Whites legend and World Cup veteran Bobby Almond in Auckland, this coming March. Bobby played with Perryman in the Spurs youth team that lifted the FA Youth Cup in 1970.
