World’s Biggest Boot Camp

Thousands of Aucklanders are set to flock to Eden Park on Sunday morning for the World's Biggest Bootcamp - an event raising awareness about New Zealand's obesity epidemic.

Held on Eden Park's famous playing surface, the event will feature a world record attempt for the most people simultaneously performing a squat exercise.

Host David Letele - aka the Brown Buttabean - said interest in the bootcamp had been high and he was expecting a large turnout.

"Everyone is taking about it - we've had 30 groups of 20 people enter the competition to win a corporate box at Blues alone - so that's a pretty good indication we're going to get a really good turnout," Letele said.

The stadium will be open from 10.00am on Sunday, with entrance via Gate E.

"We've got a great band playing on the concourse, a DJ on the pitch, coffee carts and Mai FM's road crew are coming along, so there'll be heaps going on," Letele said.

"It's going to be epic."

Following a Konga warmup on the pitch, the bootcamp itself begins at 11.00am, with the world record attempt set for 11.30am.

A non-profit event delivered by the Just Move Charitable Trust, the World’s Biggest Boot Camp is supported by Nutribullet, SKYCITY, thl, DSM and Eden Park.

Notes for media: media wishing to cover the event should contact Steve Deane to arrange access via the event staff entrance.
