Anxiety Club's first-ever nationwide tour kicks off

Anxiety Club's first-ever nationwide tour kicks off this weekend

Phil Edwards Band, The Tempests and Deep Water Creek
announced as support acts

Wellington five-piece Anxiety Club will hit the road this weekend for their first-ever New Zealand tour, with three exciting Kiwi acts taking turns to open for them at each stop.

Anxiety Club have been making a name for themselves since emerging on the Kiwi music scene in 2016 with their unique blend of alt-country, indie alt-pop and grunge, with electronic influences. Their three-date tour celebrates the release of their EP, BLACK HEART. Listen here and watch the band performing recently on RNZ.

Joining Anxiety Club in Galatos in Auckland on Saturday, March 16 will be the Phil Edwards Band. Established in 2008, Phil Edwards Band has played shows and festivals across Australasia and after a short two-year hiatus, they’re about to hit the ground running with their lively mix of blues, funk, reggae and country.

The Tempests will open in their hometown of Wellington at Meow on Saturday, March 23. Vocal duo Lynley Christoffersen and Jade, backed by a three-piece band, are known for their unique blend of strong, sweet harmonies against a backdrop of country, gospel and soul.

Finally, Deep Water Creek will kick things off at Blue Smoke in Christchurch on Friday, March 29. With an early rock influence, mixed with alt-country and folk, Deep Water Creek will be releasing their highly-anticipated debut album this year.

The lead singer of Anxiety Club, Kev Fitzsimons, says they’re thrilled to be joined by the three bands and are excited to play songs from BLACK HEART plus some new songs. “We’re stoked to be returning to Auckland where we played a banger of a show last year. Also, this will be our first-ever South Island date.”
