Muslim community representatives to join Alofa concert

Organisers of the Alofa Concert #LoveWillPrevail at the Vodafone Event Centre in Auckland are pleased to announce representatives from the Muslim community will be taking part in the event.

The Alofa Concert is open to all and will raise funds for the ‘Our People, Our City’ fund, which was set up by the Christchurch Foundation helping those affected by the Christchurch terror attacks.

It will feature iconic Pacific artists including Paris Goebel and the Royal Family, Amitai Pati from Sole Mio, Che Fu, Annie Crummer, Jamoa Jam, Lavina Williams, Poetik, TJ Taotua and many others.

Sir Michael Jones, says:

“The Alofa Concert is a Pacific expression of love for the Muslim community.

“We are honoured to have Ikhlaq Kashkari, Chairman of the New Zealand Muslim Community, joining us for this event. Ikhlaq will be thanking Aucklanders for their support and will be followed by a haka tautoko from Al-Madinha School in Mangere.

The Government has confirmed its support for the event, and will be represented by the Pacific Cabinet Ministers, Carmel Sepuloni and Aupito William Sio. The Auckland Mayor has also confirmed his attendance along with Pacific Councillors and Local board members.

“This event is open to all who want to show alofa to our Muslim community,” says Sir Michael. “Together we will send a message that #LoveWillPrevail.”

About the Alofa Concert

The Alofa Concert #LoveWillPrevail will feature iconic Pacific artists including Paris Goebel and the Royal Family, Amitai Pati from Sole Mio, Che Fu, Annie Crummer, Jamoa Jam, Lavina Williams, Poetik, Raze and TJ Taotua.

A special performance by the Samoan cultural group at Auckland's St Peters will be performing it rehearsed for last month's cancelled Polyfest competition.

The concert will will be co-hosted by Tagata Pasifika’s John Pulu and Star Kata and will be supported by Pacific comedian Tofiga Fepuea’i.
