The second release from local bootlegger Dave Branton, who has been diligently and selflessly attending local music events and creating an archive of live recordings unparalleled in the post-earthquake city of Christchurch.

Wiretap 02 is a compilation of live recordings made during 2018, of the underground and alternative music scene in Christchurch. It’s available on bandcamp, and as a limited physical release on cassette. The recordings were all broadcast on Wiretap (8k.nz) at some point during the last year, but have been given a bit of spit and polish by somebody that knows what they’re doing - so they a slight cut above the usual microphone-in-a-corner traditional bootleg sound.

WIRETAP, broadcasting at 9pm NZT Tuesday evenings on http://8k.nz, is a fortnightly-ish show showcasing Dave Branton’s live recordings.

Launched in July 2016 by a pack of battle hardened radio veterans, musicians, DJs, and young upstarts, our non-commercial and democratically driven station features “music picked by people”, and not some tasteless algorithm.
