Exhibition: Down the track

For immediate release October 2011

Down the Track is a group exhibition at The Art Station showing work by current artists from Artsenta. Artsenta is a shared art studio for people who are part of the mental health community.

Following on from our previous exhibition Making Tracks, Down the Track celebrates the journey made by artists and the organisation, reflecting back and looking forward, in its’ 25th year.

The relevance and necessity of a safe environment for creativity, for those who might otherwise be isolated and possibly unable to find resources and skills to produce their ideas, is highlighted by the numbers of artists old and new involved in the Artsenta community. There is a diverse range from those unsure of their artistic ability through to established artisans.

Creativity and the production of art are essential to the health and wellbeing of our community. The importance of Artsenta for the community of Dunedin and the wider community of Otago is seen in the works of the artists.

At 25, Artsenta is proud to be highly used and unique in serving the artists of the mental health community.

Artsenta is marking the occasion, of reaching 25 years, with the production of a book and CD full of artworks, poetry and music made at the centre. The book will be available to buy at the exhibition.

So come on down to The Art Station @ Dunedin Railway Station to view

Down The track 19th Oct – 29th Oct 2011 10am to 4pm Daily.
