NZ Biggest Orientation Music Festival Returns

NZ’s biggest orientation music festival is returning to celebrate its 5th year in the making with its hottest line up to date! USU Students’ Association at Unitec presents the “Lipton Ice Tea Sounds in the Sun” on Saturday 3rd March 2012 1-8:30pm held at Unitec Mt Albert.

Lipton Ice Tea Sounds in the Sun will be the next big thing after NYE, come party to end your summer on a high. First Release limited early bird tickets only $10 till 21st November or until sold out. “We are excited to release our much anticipated First Line Up announcement. Drum roll please for Katchafire, 1814, Kidz in Space, Bulletproof feat Jessie G and Rugged Techniques along with the world winning Prestige Dance Crew. Watch out early next year for the big hitter headline announcement of one of New Zealand’s biggest bands!!” Says Event Manager Adam Basham.

The event has had the biggest names in New Zealand grace its stage with the likes of Kora, Hollie Smith, Katchafire, Ladi 6, The Black Seeds, Mt Eden Dubstep, Tahuna Breaks, P-Money, Ivy Lies, J Williams, Dane Rumble and that’s just to name a few.

“After smashing the stage last year, we are amped to come back and do it all again, Sounds in the Sun is definitely a show we wouldn’t want to miss out on” Says Kidz in Space.

The festival not only offers great entertainment but food vendors, licensed areas, market stalls, interactive zones & free Lipton Ice Tea. Plus a new addition for 2012 will be the VIP VnC Cocktails area shared by The Edge and Snap Star Live.

Sounds in the Sun 2011 attracted over 14,500 people. It has gone from strength to strength consistently the past four years. Previously it was held on a Thursday but for the first time next year will be held on a Saturday. Capacity will be limited to 10,000 to ensure safety and quality control.

Lipton Ice Tea Sounds in the Sun will have a positive anti-violence message next year partnering with the Ministry of Social Development and the Families Commission’s “It’s Not O.K. Campaign” which has been raising significant awareness around domestic abuse within relationships.
