Sounds in the Sun Artist Search Takes Flight

New Zealand’s biggest orientation music festival is looking for some hot new talent to debut! Returning for its 5th year and for the first time ever running the “Sounds in the Sun” Artist Search Facebook competition! We are giving you and your mates the opportunity to open Sounds in the Sun 2012 sharing the stage with the hottest bands in NZ!

“There is so much talent out there in Aotearoa!! We want to give emerging artists the opportunity to launch their career. This competition is great way to get yourself out there and create a name for yourself! The winner will be performing alongside Katchafire, 1814, Kidz in Space, Bulletproof feat Jessie G & Rugged Techniques along with the world winning Prestige Dance Crew. Also a big hitter headline announcement of one of NZ’s biggest bands coming soon” Says Public Relations & Sponsorship Manager Natalie Blucher.

Show us what you’ve got! Show off your mad DJ skills, dance crew, solo performance or band. All you have to do is visit the USU Students' Association at Unitec Facebook page and press “Like”. Then click on the left tab titled “Artist Search” and press “Enter Here”. Fill out the form and add your You Tube 3-6 minute video link and submit. Then tell all your friends to vote and click “like” on your video entry which will appear on the “Watch Videos” tab. Each “Like” on the USU Facebook page acts as a vote. Competition is R16.

The top five video entries that gain the highest number of “likes” between the opening date of the competition (9 am, 7 November 2011) and the closing date (7pm on 11 December 2011) will go through to the final. The final will be judged by a panel of industry professional judges: A & R Universal Music Josh Peterson, Katchafire, Sounds in the Sun Events Manager Adam Basham and Clint from The Edge. The panel will then select a winner.

The winner will be announced via Unitec Students’ Association at Unitec’s Facebook page on the 13th December.

The event has had the biggest names in New Zealand grace its stage with the likes of Kora, Hollie Smith, Katchafire, Ladi 6, The Black Seeds, Mt Eden Dubstep, Tahuna Breaks, P-Money, Ivy Lies, J Williams, Dane Rumble and more.
