Adam Art Gallery this week beginning 14 November 2011

DOCUMENTARY FILM SCREENING
Screening 4.4: Cinemania, dirs. Stephen Kijak and Angela Christlieb, 2002. 80 mins.
Tuesday 15 November 2011, 12 noon
Kirk Gallery, Adam Art Gallery

A hilarious and ultimately sobering portrait of five New York eccentrics who happily live in a fantasy world of 'being at the movies'. Each present their own spin on the movie-obsessed, yet together share a life governed by the experience of film at the expense of everything else.

SOUND CHECK
Jukebox by Jason Wright
Opening Tuesday 15 November 2011, 5-7pm
16 November - 18 December 2011
Between the sliding doors, Adam Art Gallery

Bring along music of your choice on any format, from any artist or genre to be collaged into the sound material that will be played for the duration of the installation. Jukebox highlights the loudspeaker as an instrument integral to how we perceive sound and music.

IN CAMERA PROJECT SERIES
Shadowgraphs: Photographic Portraits by Len Lye
Opening Friday 18 November 2011, 6pm
19 November-18 December 2011

This is the Adam Art Gallery's biennial student-led project which enables students to research, write about and present an exhibition on a unique body of work. Curated by Professor Geoffrey Batchen, this exhibition is drawn primarily from the Len Lye Collection at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and presents almost all the photogram portraits made by Lye in 1947-a body of work that until recently was neither well known nor fully understood.
