Love To Roll – the Valentines date with a difference!

1 February 2012

Love To Roll – the Valentines date with a difference!

You may not have a bicycle built for two – but the Love To Roll event, organised by Frocks on Bikes, is a great way to get loved up on two wheels.

Frocks On Bikes is helping make the bicycle the must-have accessory for stylish women nationwide. On February 12, in partnership with the Island Bay Festival, they’re giving Wellingtonians a unique opportunity to celebrate summer, love and cycling in the Capital.

Love To Roll will see a spectacular sight of stylishly-dressed cyclists cruising the 10-km route from Oriental Bay around the Miramar Peninsula to Island Bay.

Frocks On Bikes coordinator Christina Bellis wants to encourage everyone to participate in this special event.

“Love to Roll is for anyone who wants to have a fun day in the sun - and who knows, you might find love on the way.”

Frocks On Bikes expect over 150 “Lovers To Roll” will turn out with their bikes, dressed for a date.

Besides enjoying the ride, the “Lovers To Roll” can compete for Best-Dressed Couple, Most Loved-Up Bike, Best-Matched Bike and Rider and more. Prizes include dinner for two at Havana, movie passes from Empire Cinema, fashion from Emma Boutique and an urban bike from Avanti.

“We really want people to dress in style and take advantage of this awesome day out,” said Christina. “The Island Bay Festival is a great destination for a date, and what better way to get there in style than on a bike with Love To Roll!”

The Island Bay festival is in its 28th year of celebrating the diversity of the South Coast, and will run from 11-19 February. Over 10,000 people are expected to enjoy the programme of events, music, performance and food stalls.

Wellingtonians who would like to take part in Love to Roll should meet promptly, with their bikes, at Oriental Bay’s Freyberg Pool at 12.30pm on Sunday February 12 – look out for the big heart signs. The dress code is dress for romance, and don’t forget to bring water and sunscreen.
