MFC to host memorial service for King of Tonga

Wellington’s Tongan community are invited to gather at a memorial for His Majesty the King of Tonga, King George Tupou V on Tuesday (28 March) at the Michael Fowler Centre.

The 63 year-old King of Tonga passed away on Monday in Hong Kong. A state funeral will take place in Tonga on Tuesday, and the memorial service is to coincide with this.

The service – organised by Makatu’unga He’ofa – (Wellington Tongan Community Incorporated) – is expected to draw people from all over the Wellington region.

The service will start at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm.
