Chocolate Shop gets sweet on Xmas Spirit

With stockings hanging a bit limp this year, chocolatier Stu Jordan has decided to stuff them for free by giving away chocolate at The Sweetest Little Chocolate Shop.

But it’s not just any chocolate he’s giving away. People will be able to treat themselves (or a loved one if they’re lucky) to high end luxury chocolate in the spirit of Christmas. And Stu is challenging other businesses to do the same.

“It’s been a tough year,” says Stu. “I’ve heard a few stories about families ‘not doing’ Christmas this year, which is what made me want to help in some way. I think other businesses should get involved too.”

The giveaway will happen at the Queen Street Store on Friday, December 7 between 12pm and 2pm, and later that day in the new Sylvia Park store between 6 – 8pm. The Hamilton store will be giving away free chocolate on December 8 from 12pm to 2pm. All customers will need is the special voucher, which will be made available to all for free on facebook.com/NZchocolate in the days beforehand.

Volunteers from the Make-A-Wish Foundation will also be at each store during the free give away times to add to the Christmas Spirit.

“I really support the work that Make-A-Wish does and it would be great if we could raise enough money through donations for a child’s Christmas wish to come true,” says Stu.

The Make-A-Wish foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The first wish was granted in 1986 and since then, Make-A-Wish New Zealand has made more than 1,000 wishes to New Zealand children come true.

Each Sweetest Little Chocolate Shop will be decked out as a Christmas wonderland throughout the coming month.

The Sweetest Little Chocolate Shop houses some of New Zealand’s best chocolate including Stu’s own creation Kāko Chocolate.
