5 Current Olympic Track Racers Confirmed To Ride

Get ready for 2 nights of adrenalin pumping action at the local Hornby Denton Park Velodrome here in Christchurch.

The stage is set for power house performances by New Zealand Olympians as they strut their stuff at the upcoming Track Cycling Carnival on January 4th and 5th 2013.

2012 Olympic medalists Simon van Velthoven and Marc Ryan will be showing what they’re made of when they go head-to-head against fellow Olympians Eddie Dawkins and Shane Archbold during the event. But that’s not all... Cantabrian and Olympian Natasha Hansen will also be there with the bit between their teeth.

Our Olympic riders are the event draw cards, but they’re not the only big hitters “riders come from all round New Zealand” says CTC Chairman Syd Martin “Canterbury alone boasts a number of National Elite and Age Group Champs”

21 year old Canterbury cyclist Michael Vink (The Vinkanator), has been turning heads on his recent return to the track claiming a Denton Park record of 4:39.21 for 4000m at the Canterbury Mid-Season Champs last weekend.

Track Carnival racing has something for everyone: One lap sprints, Keirins, Eliminations and Handicaps. There is also the two feature races – The Harcourts Wheel Race and The Hornby Working

Men’s Cup Race. Back-to-back rapid racing is fantastic for spectators and competitors alike.

The Canterbury Track Cycling Carnival is going to be a star studded event worth marking in your diary. Racing starts at 6.00pm both nights and ticket sales will be available at the gate ($10/night).
