Ferguson and Singh come in for Aces

Bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Bhupinder Singh will join the Aces for their home Plunket Shield fixture with the Central Stags starting tomorrow.

The Aces have lost Dean Bartlett to injury and Michael Bates has been included subject to his recovery from the calf strain that he sustained in the Aces last round loss to the Northern Knights.

The Aces were drastically depleted in that game with Bates and Bartlett unable to bowl from early in the first innings and that undoubtedly had an influence on what turned into a heavy defeat.

This match looms as a crucial one to give the Aces some momentum in their quest for a title. The Stags lead the competition and the match provides the opportunity to make up some ground on the leaders.

Aces coach Paul Strang is confident that his side can bounce back in this game.

"There's no question there are some things we'd like to change from that last game performance wise but a few things also went against us as well. We know this is an important game and that Central have been travelling well but we've been working hard since the Knights match and we're in a good frame of mind heading into it."

The 13 from which a team will be named for Wednesday's game is as follows:

Gareth Hopkins (Captain) (Parnell)
Michael Bates (Suburbs New Lynn)
Craig Cachopa (Takapuna)
Colin de Grandhomme (Howick Pakuranga)
Lockie Ferguson (Parnell)
Michael Guptill-Bunce (Cornwall)
Dusan Hakaraia (Grafton United)
Tim McIntosh (Parnell)
Bruce Martin (Parnell)
Chris Martin (Parnell)
Matt Quinn (Cornwall)
Bhupinder Singh (Papatoetoe)
Reece Young (Suburbs New Lynn)
