Visa Wellington On a Plate 2013 Gets Cooking

Visa Wellington On a Plate 2013 Gets Cooking

Applications for the coolest little culinary festival in the world open today, with organisers calling for restaurants, foodies and event organisers to serve up something special for the Festival’s fifth course.

The application process is the most exciting time of the Festival planning, says Visa Wellington On a Plate Co-Director, Sarah Meikle.

“The culinary community continues to cook up bigger, better and tastier menu and event ideas. In previous years we’ve seen everything from gastronomic treats of the feet and hands on pastry classes, to dining like royalty and breaking down a 300kg cattle beast; however 2013 marks the Festival’s fifth birthday so we’re looking forward to raising the steaks.”

In addition to Festival menus and events, the popular Burger Wellington and New World Wellington Bake Club competitions will return for 2013, alongside a new competition category.

“A new media partnership with MiNDFOOD magazine will see the introduction of a regional supplier award and a new naming right sponsor for the Wellington On a Plate Award – the DINE Wellington menu that best reflects the culinary capital’s flavour.

“We’re also delighted to welcome back Visa as the Festival’s key sponsor along with other committed partners. With their continued support we’re dedicated to providing a VWOAP that truly takes the cake.”

Those interested in hosting a Festival Event or being part of the DINE Wellington programme have until midnight Wednesday 20 February to submit their application at http://www.wellingtononaplate.com/industry/. After that the kitchen is closed and no late ingredients can be added into the mix.
