The Best Of The Best Circus In Aotearoa

The New Zealand Development Cooperative with support from FUSE Circus & Footnote Dance presents:
The Golden Carnie Awards

Celebrating Circus Excellence In Aotearoa

This weekend marks a big occasion for fans of circus performance throughout New Zealand; not only has Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Apart opened in cinemas throughout New Zealand but tickets for the very first Golden Carnie Awards go on sale Monday 25th February!

A celebration of the finest in creativity, skill and performance, The Golden Carnie Awards, taking place April 20th at Wellington’s Opera House, demonstrates just how much the art form has been developed and embraced by New Zealanders.

New Zealand’s circus art form is now on par with its international counterparts, with audiences the world over experiencing the great and innovative work that has been created in the land of the long white cloud.

FUSE Circus and the New Zealand Development Cooperative understand that these developments and that given the caliber of the art-form, that it was simply reprehensible not to award the many performers throughout the country with what promises to be the Oscars & WOW’s of its kind.

International judges will be casting their choices across four different categories in 2013, including Best Youth Award, Best Stage Act, Best Aerial Act and the Overall Grand Prize in the world of short circus acts. Finalists for all four awards will perform their very best acts for the live audience, with final judging and the prize giving taking place on the night.
