Broadcast on
Waatea 603AM

Sunday 12.00 - 12.30pm
both shows repeated from 5pm onwards

Saturday 4th May 2013 - Te Tai Rawhiti icon Parekura Horomia passed away this week. He was the last of his kind in terms of an old style politician with old school values and no matter what faction his fellow politicians hailed from, he was universally loved by all. He will be missed dearly, including by us here in Maori media.

E te rangatira, e te mokai o te motu moe mai raa.

Eruera Morgan caught up with Parekura’s whanaunga Selwyn Parata at the tangi and he talks about the proceedings and about the man who called everyone chief.

Sunday 5th May 2013 - Te Whanau aa Waipareira revealed its 25 year strategic vision this week. It involves dynamic new partnerships with Waitemata District Health Board, Microsoft and Massey University. Eruera speaks with Waipareira Kaumatua Dennis Hansen about all these initiatives and of course the whanau’s strategic vision.

Korero Mai Ki Ahau a half hour features programme every Saturday and Sunday from noon, which takes an in – depth look at issues affecting te ao Maori. Totally in te reo Maori brought to you by Waatea News in association with Te Mangai Paho.

Ma Waatea ma te reo hei whakamarama
Both shows will be available as podcast on our website: waateanews.com
